A4

A4 starts with two sheets of regular a4 sized paper with orthogonal cut-out panels. These panels are then sewn shut with upcycled plastic waste obtained from Demos. The result is a delicate yet brutal connection between the three distinct materials; paper, yarn and plastic. They hold an honest, and therefore brutal, structure between themselves without intervention of an alien bonding agent and yet they are fragile in their minimal expressions. These expressions result in interconvertible figure-ground relationships between the components as no singular part rises to clear protagonist.

This dynamic is later echoed in the installation work Stroke as a larger scale experience, forcing the observer to become one of the defined components.
